Inspired by the dahlia farms that sit perched in the shadow of Mt. Hood, this painting is one Amanda dreamed of for many years before finally completing it.
Since arriving in Oregon over a decade ago and stumbling upon a dahlias at a flower booth at the Portland Farmer’s Market, they have been one of Amanda’s favorite flowers.

Crested Butte, Colorado has inspired many of Amanda’s watercolor paintings. Every July in this small ski town, the mountains come alive with color from incredible wildflower blooms. Despite spending the Summer of 2024 in Bend, Oregon, Amanda felt inspired to paint this Crested Butte landscape after seeing photos of the lupine blooms happening in the area.

While it is not uncommon to stumble upon bull skulls in the Oregon Wilderness, the inspiration for this painting came from Amanda’s time in Kansas. “Princess Paprika” was a skull Amanda’s sister had mounted in her home and would often decorate with garlands and ornaments. Here, Paprika is instead surrounded by a field of Rhododendrons, a common Oregon wildflower and a nod to Amanda’s Oregon home.
