Unlike many of Amanda's paintings, "Garden Picnic" was the result of an impromptu afternoon watercolor session with no pre-planning. While scrolling through her saved photos she stumbled upon one of a charcuterie board and felt the sudden spark of inspiration to paint it. It is not everyday that paintings flow effortlessly in this way, so Amanda welcomed the painting despite its deviation from her typical subject matter. Although, if you know Amanda, you would know how much she loves food, so perhaps the deviation isn't such a surprise after all 😋
